Emery Lee began his construction career with his father back in 1950 with one truck hauling gravel and wood in the Medway and Millinocket area. After his father passed away, Emery went to work for Great Northern Paper operating heavy equipment and doing excavation work on many of the mills big construction projects. To help make ends meet and to support his growing family Emery took odd jobs hauling gravel and doing light construction. Emery worked for Great Northern until 1989 where he coordinated the trucking crews that work on the excavation projects as the mill was being built and expanded.
As his construction business continued to grow, Emery added more construction equipment, trucks, and built his team of employees. Because of his reputation as a reliable and hard worker, Emery kept getting more excavation and trucking work in the area. In 1980 Emery moved his business from his home in Medway to its current location in Millinocket to give his business more room to expand.
In 1989 as a way to expand his capabilities, Emery purchased a concrete batch mill in Medway and continues to provide redi-mix concrete products to the region.
Emery Lee and Sons has continued to thrive in the construction industry for the past three decades and now operates a fleet of 40 dump trucks and a large inventory of heavy earth moving equipment. They currently employ around 30 people during the peak construction period and have trucks and heavy earthmoving equipment working on many major projects throughout the state.
Even today, Emery is still very active in the day to day operations of the company and is supported by his three sons Jim, Jeff, Darin and three grandsons on the road and at job sites and his wife Marquette and daughter Cathy in the office.
